It happens every time I see a plane flying by overhead. Never fails, whether I’m on the court, or mowing the lawn. When I spot a jet spewing vapor trails into the blue I start yearning for that transformative experience that only a dive trip can bring.  The destination doesn’t matter, whether it’s a spear fishing trip at my favorite spot in the Gulf of Mexico, or an underwater photo outing in a virgin reef half a world away, I just need to get wet. It’s called wanderlust, and it’s a common infliction among divers.

The journey begins with the planning, and to me, the anticipation of that next adventure is one of the best parts of the trip. Visualizing myself exploring a new wreck, reef, or cavern; the currents giving me wings as I fly above walls, channels and patch reefs, all while marveling at the endless parade of marine life streaming by in their exotic dance. This type of preparation is my saving grace in a world of office hours, mortgage payments and dentist visits.

It all starts with inspiration, and that’s why I love The Sandy Butler Market. Sure, I might be a little biased, but when I can’t be underwater there’s no place better suited for me to sit back and let my imaginative juices flow. It gets me every time-when I stroll through those big double doors, I can’t help but compare our place to my favorite pastime. The tropical design and friendly service make me feel as if I am already on that island vacation.
